Bike Saddle

Designed On Your Body

All the models of the SMP4BIKE range have common patented characteristics, such as the original beak of the saddle nose, designed to supply a flat base for efforts when sitting for long climbs that have to be faced and as a help in downhill slopes, offering greater thigh control of the bicycle.
The central channel of the saddle is an uncommon characteristic because of its dimensions: almost a whole hand can be put in there and this prevents crushing of the anus, prostate, venae pudendae, deep dorsal vein and artery of the penis, scrotum and testicles in men, and the labia majora and minora and the clitoris, in women.

The cyclist’s seating pattern on the SMP4BIKE saddle is shared between the buttocks and the lower part of the pelvic bones (the ischial tuberosities) and the position is favoured by the shape of its rear which, besides preventing squashing of the coccyx on uneven ground, allows gentle ins and outs from the rear when the ground requires it.

It was actually the users that pointed out how SMP4BIKE is particularly valid in the front ins and outs also making it possible for those that practice extreme bike competitions with wide shorts to use it without any problem.

The length of the bars makes installation particularly easy on practically any combination of frame/saddle pillar.

SMP4BIKE is produced by Selle SMP, a company founded in 1947 and therefore one of the pioneers of the sector in the world.

Made completely in Italy and recognizable by the Italian flag, the smp4bike range is characterized by its tapered shape, designed to improve performance by increasing blood circulation in the legs.
The central channel in the saddle is an uncommon characteristic because of its dimensions: there is nearly room for a whole hand and it allows anus, prostate, pudenda veins, penis deep dorsal vein and artery, scrotum and testicles as well as women’s labia minora and majora and clitoris not to be squashed.
This central channel ensures also natural ventilation. As a matter of fact air can circulate also around the cyclist’s private parts and this avoids the unpleasant heat feeling.

On the smp4bike saddles cyclists sit partly on their glutei and partly on the lower pelvis (ischial tuberosities) and this position is supported by the shape of the back of the saddle that, apart from avoiding pressure on the coccix on uneven terrain, allows entering and exiting from the back softly when the ground requires it, also for those cyclists taking part in extreme biking with wide shorts.
And it was users who highlighted how the SMP patented features, like the original beak of the saddle nose, designed to supply a flat base, are particularly good during the effort while seated and going up long slopes and as a help in going downhill, offering better bike control with the thighs also entering and exiting from the front, making them easy to use. The bar length makes installation particularly easy on almost any combination of seat frame/upright.

The smp4bike saddles pioneer a new way of thinking about bike saddles. In “Journal of Sexual Medicine”, the prestigious American scientific magazine, the results of a comparison with other competition saddles were published, where it was proved that the particular ergonomic shape of the SMP saddles limits the “compression of the pelvis” to the minimum, consequently protecting the blood perfusion on the soft tissues and increasing at the same time the flow in the blood vessels inside the leg.
Enthusiastic reports of cyclists who are using the 4bike saddles by SELLE SMP throughout the world are to be found on the Company’s website.

The 2009 smp4bike models

Full Carbon (105 g), Carbon and Carbon Color (165 g) and Composit CRB (Carbon Rail 150 g) are the solution for whoever is looking for utmost lightness combined with exceptional comfort.

Evolution, Stratos, Glider, Avant, Pro and Lite209 are padded with elastomer only where the ischial tuberosities and the glutei rest.

The six models are different because of the width and thickness of the padding so that the ideal solution can be found on the basis of the cyclist’s structure and sex.

The Evolution has very small padding and therefore is particularly suitable for very thin cyclists with narrow hips who love the minimum. The Lite209 is the latest saddle combining all the features of the series of saddles.

As far as padding is concerned, superb intermediate solutions between Evolution and Lite209 are the Stratos, Avant and Glider.

Finally the classical Pro and Plus are characterized by a bigger body than in previous models and by “integral” padding for those who want the utmost comfort.

The following models are available also with a CRB (Carbon Rail) frame:
Full Carbon, Composit, Evolution, Stratos, Glider, Lite 209, Pro, Avant and all the Lady versions.
